Michael Sonntag is an independent film producer, development executive, casting director, teacher, and actor.
Born and raised in St. Louis, MO, Michael began his career producing the evening news at NBC affiliate WNDU, after graduating from the University of Notre Dame. He has worked both in front of and behind the camera, in a wide range of positions, from actor and production assistant to producer and casting director. Michael is one of the founding partners of Studio C, an acting and filmmaking institute, where he currently teaches acting classes, offers private coaching, and shares artistic director duties for the school’s Company.
Michael’s
varied career has included a position at Roth Capital Partners, where he
assisted in arranging venture capital for several internet IPO’s,
as well as, a three-year stint as an associate producer for Alton Entertainment,
where he was involved in the development, writing, and daily production
of several television shows. Michael is also proud of his work with
Voices in Harmony, a mentoring program that links actors with inner-city
teens, and has been instrumental in the production of two of their stage shows,
as well as their film, Listen: Everyone Has a Story to Tell, starring
Jim Carrey.
Michael has held the title of Director of Development for Shakrah Films, as well as Co-Producer on award-winning director Vince DiPersio’s latest feature documentary, Truth In Terms Of Beauty. Most recently, Michael acted as associate producer and production manager for Semper Fi, which premieres on Showtime in June 2007, as well as line producer and casting director on the television pilot, Bourbon Street for Rampart Entertainment. Michael is currently producing the independent feature film Detour with his business partner, John Coppola.
